Flushing of mains is necessary to ensure that water quality is maintained at its optimal level. The Public Works Department performs this flushing procedure every spring.
The flushing will not affect every resident, but the water could be discolored at times in certain sections of the City. Any discolored water is safe for drinking and bathing, but can stain clothes being laundered. Therefore, residents are cautioned to draw a glass of water to check for discoloration before doing laundry. If clothing is inadvertently stained, keep it wet until rust remover can be applied. Packets of rust remover can be obtained at the Miamisburg Civic Center, 10 N. First Street, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
For more information, please call the Public Works Department at 847-6635.
