Financial data now available online Print E-mail

Miamisburg, Ohio - Aug. 19, 2015:  The City of Miamisburg is now making available to the public new and unprecedented access to its budget information.

This access is provided online through a financial analysis platform powered by  It is visualization software that transforms volumes of raw financial data into an interactive, digital format, enabling an analysis and understanding of the budget and making it easy for the public to learn more about revenues and expenditures.

“Our local government historically has prided itself on its financial transparency to the public,” City Manager Keith Johnson said.  “Now the OpenGov software will make it more convenient than ever for citizens to review current and past financial information, and we’re pleased to provide this service.”

A link to OpenGov is provided on the City’s homepage at  Visitors can watch a tutorial video, then review five years of City spending and revenue detail in a user-friendly portal.  Multiple views of budget data are available, including by fund, department and expense or revenue type.  There is also a series of commonly asked questions users can choose from, such as “How much did the City spend on [X] over the past five years.”

The City’s Finance Department has been recognized by the Auditor of State’s office annually for the last 25 years for excellence in financial reporting.  Over 275 government entities across the country use OpenGov technology, including several in the Miami Valley region.  The company was founded in 2012 with headquarters in Silicon Valley in California.
