City facilities now closed; Court remains open Print E-mail

Miamisburg, Ohio - March 16, 2020:  City Manager Keith Johnson announced this morning that the City of Miamisburg is taking new operational measures to limit exposure of the public and City staff to the coronavirus (COVID-19). 

On Friday, the City announced that the Miamisburg Community Center was temporary closed and that public events and recreational activities would be cancelled for at least a three-week period.  Today, the city manager said all City facilities will close to the public beginning at noon.  The exception will be the Miamisburg Municipal Court, which is conducting normal business at this time in the Miamisburg Civic Center.

“We ask the public to please be patient as we work through these health and safety issues,” Johnson said.  “We are attempting to balance the need to serve the community, while restricting access to public spaces where possible.”

The following are important details about today’s actions:

•    Main department telephone numbers will be staffed during business hours.  If calls are unanswered, the public is encouraged to please leave voice mail messages.
•    Public safety personnel remain on full duty to serve the public, but Miamisburg Police Department and Miami Valley Fire District stations are discouraging visitors.  Non-emergency calls for service should be directed to (937) 225-HELP 24-hours-a-day.  Police administration can be reached at (937) 847-6617 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Webcheck services offered to the public by the Police Department are suspended indefinitely.
•    For all other City departments, only directors and essential employees will be on duty, and face-to-face meetings are being discontinued.  Some employees may be working remotely.
•    The public is being directed to conduct all business by phone or email and limit direct contact with employees out in the community, whenever possible.
•    City Council will meet as scheduled tomorrow (March 17 at 6 p.m.) in the Miamisburg Civic Center.  Meetings will continue to be cablecast live and rerun on Spectrum and AT&T local government access channels.

Municipal Court
Even though the Court remains open, people are encouraged to attend proceedings alone and pay any fines online at miamisburgcourts.com.  If a defendant has symptoms that my related to COVID-19, please call the Court at (937) 866-2203 to make other arrangements pertaining to their case.  To assist with social distancing on busy days, the building’s City Council chamber will be used as overflow space.

Income Tax
Local income tax forms may be submitted in the utility bill drop-box located in the main hallway of the Miamisburg Civic Center.  Staff will not meet with taxpayers, but will be available to offer assistance by phone at (937) 847-6462.

Water Billing
Payments should be mailed in or dropped off in the Civic Center lobby drop box.  Questions should be directed to (937) 847-6460.

Public Works
Business with the public will be conducted by phone at (937) 847-6635.  Rumpke will continue to collect refuse and recycling, and water and wastewater facilities will be staffed.

Engineering and Planning

Golf Courses
PipeStone and Mound golf courses remain open, although dining in the clubhouses has been discontinued.
