City update on coronavirus actions Print E-mail

Miamisburg, Ohio – March 23, 2020:  The City of Miamisburg announced today that its deadline for filing 2019 income tax returns and paying any tax due is being pushed back to July 15, 2020.  This date is consistent with the recently announced federal filing date.
The City continues to provide essential services to the community, while also making new staffing and operational adjustments in response to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.  In addition to the actions announced last week:
•    City departments continue to move more toward limited staff hours, including rotating shifts among essential personnel and more City staff working remotely from home.  Members of the public should continue to use only telephone and email for contact with departments.  The Miamisburg Police Department continues to have all sworn personnel on duty as usual.
•    The Miamisburg Municipal Court remains open, but Judge Robert Rettich has issued a temporary order that enacts measures in accordance with recommendations by the Ohio Supreme Court, Ohio Department of Health and Gov. Mike DeWine.  People scheduled to appear in Court are encouraged to call the Court in advance at (937) 866-2203.
•    City Council has voted to cancel its next regularly scheduled meeting on April 7.  Council will work with City Manager Keith Johnson to determine a schedule and method of future meetings.  The Planning Commission meeting scheduled April 6 has also been cancelled.
•    The drop box in the Miamisburg Civic Center lobby remains open and available for residents to submit City income tax returns and utility payments.
•    The City has temporarily suspended water shut-offs and interest penalties for late payments of utility bills.  However, residents are strongly encouraged to stay current on payments and should be aware that water and sewer charges accrue.
•    Beginning tomorrow (March 24), the City will no longer accept new building permit applications for elective, residential projects until the governor’s stay at home order is lifted.  However, residential permits and inspections for emergency repairs such as electric, plumbing and HVAC will continue.  All commercial permits and inspections will continue as usual.
•    At PipeStone Golf Course, play is available but the clubhouse is closed, there is minimal staffing and carts are not in use.  Payment and tee times must be made online at www.pipestonegolf.com.  Season passholders must register a tee time.  The clubhouse is also closed and carts unavailable at Mound Golf Course.  The only players permitted on the course are those who have already purchased 2020 season passes.  Patrons at both courses are encouraged to maintain social distancing practices.
•    Aside from City golf courses, other recreation facilities and neighborhood playgrounds are now closed.  Facilities will remain closed and programs and events cancelled at least through April 6.  This includes activities related to the Miamisburg Baseball/Softball League.  The annual Spring Fest in the Burg event in May has been cancelled.
