A fully staffed, nationally accredited Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of community benefits through year-round programming and special events. The Department provides recreational opportunities for all age groups and features a variety of indoor and outdoor facilities. The following is an update on current activities:
Discounted Registration Extended Time - Summer
A special discount is available for most programs for participants who register more than one calendar week prior to the start of the class. Beginning one calendar week before the start of the program, regular registration rates will go into effect. All classes require a minimum/maximum number of participants in order for the class to take place, so plan to register soon to ensure a spot in spring programs. The level of cost savings and the discounted period will vary per program, so please review each individual class summary for specific fee information. Registration discounts will be available for all methods of registration, including online! Registration for summer programs begins on Saturday, June 12 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Parks and Recreation office in the Miamisburg Civic Center. Call (937) 866-4532 for more information.
Miamisburg Teen Advocates
Want a voice in the Community? Want to be a part of planning programs and events targeted just for teens? If you are a teen between the age of 13 and 18 years old, we want to hear from you! The Miamisburg Parks and Recreation Department has formed a Teen Board that assists in the planning and implementation of teen activities in the community. Teen Board members will have a voice in steering the direction the Department takes on teen issues and programs. If you are interested in being a part of this exciting Teen Board, please pick up an application at the Parks and Recreation Department, 10 N. First Street between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. You may also call the office at 866-4532 and ask that an application be mailed to you.
Advanced Registration is Vital
Registration deadlines are published with every program offered by the Parks and Recreation Department. It is vital to register by the deadline date for programs, because at some point a decision must be made on whether or not there is sufficient enrollment to conduct the program. Instructors can only teach classes if a minimum number of participants are registered. If you try to register after the registration deadline has passed, the program may already be cancelled. Please register by the registration deadline to prevent cancellation, so that everyone can benefit.
Teaching opportunities
Do you have a special talent you would like to share with others? Do you have an interest in working with children or adults? Become an instructor for the Miamisburg Parks and Recreation Department and make a difference in someones life by teaching them a new skill and giving them an opportunity to socialize and meet new people. If you are interested, please contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 866-4532 for more information.
