ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
(Police Department)

The City of Miamisburg, Ohio (pop. 20,000), a historic suburban community in the south Dayton metropolitan is accepting applications for the position of Administrative Assistant to the Police Chief.  Miamisburg is a progressive and growing community that retains its small town charm with a historic downtown and a mix of older neighborhoods and new housing developments

The Administrative Assistant reports directly to the Chief of Police and is responsible for a variety of advanced administrative functions including, but not limited to, use of Microsoft Office Suite for word processing, spreadsheets, slide presentations, and internet research; preparation of  memos and letters; ordering materials and processing payments.  This is a key position in the department, having daily interaction with employees of other departments and with the public.  The Assistant will regularly receive a variety of resident/customer requests and concerns and must ensure that the appropriate action is taken with the highest level of customer service.  The position requires independent judgement and action with minimal supervision.  The minimum qualifications for the position are:

•    Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.), and
•    Minimum of one year experience providing administrative support in an office environment, and
•    Operational knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software, and
•    Effective oral and written communication skills, and
•    Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively, and
•    Ability to multi-task and work well independently, and
•    Ability to maintain confidentiality

PUBLIC WORKS SUPERVISOR
(Street Maintenance)

City of Miamisburg, Ohio (pop. 20,000) is accepting applications for the full time position of Public Works Supervisor in the Street Maintenance Division to manage and lead daily maintenance and operations.

This position reports to the Public Works Superintendent and performs a variety of routine and complex skilled, technical and supervisory duties within the street division of the Public Works Department.  Each Public Works Supervisor leads a staff of 2-8 full-time union employees.  The position requires strong interpersonal skills, a solid work ethic, sound technical knowledge, as well as the ability to motivate and lead employees by example.  Supervisors are expected to ensure regulatory compliance is met and that proper standards and practices are exercised during the maintenance of the City’s infrastructure.   Each supervisor is considered a working member of the department, and performs both labor and administrative duties, assisting various City departments and other areas of Public Works as necessary.  The Public Works Supervisor position is a primary emergency contact, and must be available to respond to a variety of after-hours calls.

The minimum qualifications are:
•    Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or related field or equivalent education and/or experience; and
•    A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in public works operations or a related field, including documented experience in a supervisory and/or leadership role; and
•    Possess a Class A CDL with tanker endorsement, or a Class B CDL, under the condition that a Class A CDL with tanker endorsement be obtained within two (2) years; and
•    Must be experienced in snow and ice control operations; and
•    Must be able to respond quickly to emergencies and fulfill physical demands of the position; and
•    Must be able and willing to work extended hours and demonstrate a work history of excellent attendance and overtime response; and
•    Must have administrative experience with public works related records (examples: payroll, budgets, purchasing, and inventory); and
•    Must be able to demonstrate proficiency with using Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel) to keep accurate and organized records and able to produce reports in a timely manner.

DRIVER
(Community Center programs/events)

The City of Miamisburg, Ohio is accepting applications for the position of Driver for select programs and events associated with the Community Center.  This part-time position reports directly to the Operations Coordinator or Operations Manager and is responsible for safely transporting passengers while driving a van or bus, and coordinating transportation plans in support of community recreation and senior adult programs.  

The position requires a High School diploma or GED equivalent, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to do the job. The position requires effective communication skills, a friendly and positive attitude; and ability to safely operate a vehicle.  The successful candidate must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license and obtain CPR/First Aid Certification within six months of appointment.  The 2018 wage rate for the position is $8.51 to $13.33 per hour DOQ.  Applications can be obtained from the City of Miamisburg Administration Office, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, 10 N. MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
(Public Works Dept.)

The City of Miamisburg is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Maintenance Technician within the Public Works Department.  The position performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled work and operates a variety of equipment in the operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of City water and sewer treatment, distribution, and pumping facilities and systems.  Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent; valid Ohio driver’s license; minimum of three years experience in maintenance of water and wastewater facilities or industrial equivalent.  Must have strong electrical, mechanical and automation background including familiarity with pumps, motors and distribution equipment.  Successful applicant must obtain an Ohio Class I EPA license within two years of appointment.  Pay range is $20.62 to $23.95 per hour DOQ with an excellent benefits package.  Applications can be obtained at the City Administration Office or on the City’s website at www.ci.miamisburg.oh.us.  Review of applications will be begin April 27, 2018 and will continue until position is filled.

POLICE OFFICER
(Lateral and Entry Level )

The City of Miamisburg, Ohio (pop. 20,000) is accepting applications for both entry level and lateral full-time positions of Police Officer.  Applicants must be at least 21 years of age; possess a valid Ohio driver’s license; have no felony record; and possess a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent (associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred).

Entry level applicants (not currently a certified peace officer) must successfully complete a written test through National Testing Network, Inc.  To schedule a test, go to www.nationaltestingnetwork.com, select Law Enforcement and sign up for the Miamisburg Police Department.  Testing must be completed no later than June 4, 2018.  Successful completion of a physical fitness assessment is also required for non-lateral applicants and will be conducted on Sunday, June 10, 2018.  The time and location for the physical fitness assessment will be provided to those applicants who successfully complete the written test.   

Lateral applicants (currently a certified peace officer with a minimum of one year of full-time law enforcement employment) are not required to complete the written test or physical fitness assessment to be considered for employment.  If selected, prior service will be taken into consideration towards starting pay and leave benefits.

The compensation package includes a pay range of $26.23-$34.85/per hour, dependent on qualifications and experience, with excellent benefits.
