The City of Miamisburg, Ohio (pop. 20,121), an historic suburban community in the south Dayton metropolitan region (pop. 901,500) is seeking proven and progressive candidates committed to excellence in the field of human resources.  Miamisburg is a progressive and growing community that retains its small town charm with an historic downtown and a mix of older neighborhoods and new housing developments offering a high quality of life and services to its residents.

The Human Resources Director reports directly to the City Manager and is responsible for providing a centralized program of personnel administration for the City including payroll & benefits, recruitment & selection, collective bargaining & labor relations, safety & risk management, policy development and interpretation, and employee training & development.  The position is responsible for staying current on state and federal laws and is staff liaison to the Civil Service Commission.  The position serves as advisor to the City Manager and other City management on all human resource matters including position classification and compensation, organizational structure, and employee performance and discipline.  The City employs approximately 135 full-time employees, 20 part-time employees, and 150 seasonal employees.  The position also provides human resources support to the Miami Valley Fire District’s 65 full-time staff.

The position requires a minimum of bachelor’s degree in human resources management, or business or public administration, or related discipline, along with progressively responsible experience in human resources management.  A Master’s degree or Law degree is desirable.  SPHR/PHR certification preferred.  A combination of education and extensive human resources experience will be considered.  Exceptional interpersonal skills, strong organizational leadership, independent judgment, and motivational skills are essential.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: maintaining park grounds, roadsides, landscapes and facilities; mowing, trimming and general landscape maintenance; and performing regular inspections of all park facilities to ensure cleanliness for public use.
