RECREATION AND SPECIAL EVENTS SUPERINTENDENT
(Parks & Recreation Department)

The City of Miamisburg, Ohio (pop. 20,000), a historic suburban community in the south Dayton metropolitan region is accepting applications for the position of Recreation and Special Events Superintendent.  Miamisburg is a progressive and growing community that retains its small-town charm with a historic downtown and mixed housing developments offering a high quality of life and services to its residents. 

Position Overview

The City of Miamisburg’s nationally accredited Parks & Recreation Department serves approximately 50,000 residents, including surrounding Miami Township.  Overseeing and maintaining twenty (20) neighborhood and community parks, a Community Center, Family Aquatic Center, skateboard park, dog park, community recreation programming and events, and one 9-hole golf course that has been part of the community for over 60 years.

The Parks & Recreation Superintendent reports directly to the Parks and Recreation Director and performs a variety of skilled, supervisory and administrative tasks to improve, increase and maintain opportunities for the community to Play, Discover and Grow. This professional position is responsible for planning, developing, monitoring, organizing, evaluating and leading the Recreation and Special Events Division of the Parks and Recreation Department. 

The Superintendent will lead development, implementation and evaluation of programming and operations for all ages and abilities encouraging an inclusive environment for recreation and special events. Superintendent is responsible for research of opportunities, collecting and analyzing data, incorporating public input and evaluation, and ensuring excellent customer service while developing action plans and budgets, directing through supervisory of personnel; and evaluating the effectiveness of accomplishments to implement modifications as necessary.

Education & Experience:

•    Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Recreation, Tourism, Business Management, Urban Affairs, Communications, or related field. 

•    A minimum of five years of experience in an administrative role, including supervision of staff in recreation and special events management or a related field.  

•    Certified Parks and Recreation Professional preferred.

•    Experience in Capital and Operating budget development and management.

A combination of education, experience and training may be applied in accordance with the City of Miamisburg policy. 

Additional Qualifications

•    Knowledge of leading a comprehensive recreation and special event division.

•    Operational knowledge of current Microsoft Office Suite software and ability to learn and use recreation software.

•    Strong organizational, interpersonal and conflict management skills. 

•    Effective verbal and written communication skills.

•    Must possess a valid driver’s license.

The chosen candidate will be required to obtain and maintain the following licensures and certifications once hired:

•    Aquatic Facility Operators Certification

•    CPR/First Aid Certification

HUMAN RESOURCES TECHNICIAN

The City of Miamisburg, Ohio, (pop. 20,000) a well-established, progressive city located southwest of Dayton, is seeking applications for Human Resources Technician.  The successful candidate will be required to maintain a high level of confidentiality.  The City is looking for someone who can work effectively with supervisors, co-workers, outside agencies and businesses, as well as the public.     

Position Overview

This position reports directly to the Director of Human Resources and provides support to the HR Department with the primary functions being administering the payroll function for the City of Miamisburg and back up for the Miami Valley Fire District.  Involves compiling payroll data, maintaining payroll and personnel records, and ensuring compliance with all mandatory reporting requirements. 

This position would also provide support for other Human Resource functions, as needed, which may include but is not limited to, benefit administration, recruitment and selection, record retention and public document requests, Workers Compensation, EEOC, COBRA, and FMLA.  This position is 40 hours per week and intended to be Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm but may include some evenings and weekends dependent on department needs and deadlines.   

Minimum Qualifications:

•    High school diploma or equivalent required but an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university preferred
•    Experience in customer service; and
•    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide
•    Basic computer data entry skills
•    Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook with additional payroll software experience preferred
•    Effective communication skills
•    Working experience in multi-tasking
•    Proven ability to meet deadlines
•    Proven ability to maintain confidentiality  

Additional preferred qualifications:

The best candidate will have at least two years’ experience in payroll and human resources or a related field; have some experience in government payroll or finance, be proficient with use of payroll software, and with the use of office equipment such as printer, copier/scanner, fax machine, phone and calculator.

We are looking for a candidate who has positive and effective communication skills (both written and verbal), customer service and time management skills.  It is imperative this individual be able to multi-task, meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality while maintaining a friendly and positive attitude.  Looking for someone who can work independently while still being an effective team player. LIGHT EQUIPMENT OPERATOR
(Public Works Dept., Wastewater Collections Division)

GENERAL PURPOSE

Performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled utility maintenance work and operates a variety of light equipment relating to construction, maintenance or repair of water distribution systems, sanitary/storm sewer collection systems and/or roadways construction, operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of the City storm drainage system, water distribution system, and roadways. Actively supports and upholds the City’s stated mission and values.  MANDATORY MEMBER OF SNOW & ICE CONTROL TEAM.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1.    High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.); and
2.    One (1) year of experience in the operation of light equipment relating to construction, maintenance or repair of water distribution systems, sanitary/storm sewer collection systems and/or roadways, or equivalent; and
3.    Possess a valid Ohio Driver’s License*; and
4.    Possess a minimum of a Class B Ohio Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)*.  (Must possess a Class A CDL and tanker endorsement within six months of position appointment) *; and
5.    Must be able to respond within a reasonable amount of time to emergencies and fulfill physical demands of the position; and
6.    Must be able and willing to work extended hours and demonstrate a work history of reliable attendance and overtime response.

Additional requirement for Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection Divisions only:
Obtain a minimum of an Ohio EPA Class I Water Supply Operator License*, Water Distribution Operator License*, Wastewater Treatment Operator License*, or Wastewater Collection Operator License* as determined by the Department Director or designee within two (2) years of appointment.

*Licensures must be maintained over the course of employment as a condition of employment within this classification.

OPERATION TECHNICIAN - Part-time
(Parks & Facilities Division)

The City of Miamisburg, Ohio is accepting applications for the position of Operations Technician.  This part-time position reports directly to the Facilities Operations Manager and performs a variety of skilled and unskilled tasks in the custodial care and maintenance of community buildings. The ideal candidate possesses experience in construction, electrical systems, HVAC systems, painting, plumbing and/or custodial work. The position responsibilities include but are not limited to: performing regular inspections and repairs of all facilities to ensure cleanliness for public use; light construction and other general maintenance tasks; custodial work; moving and lifting up to 50 lbs. and assisting co-workers as needed. 

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Ohio Driver’s License.  The applicant must also have the ability to assess facilities and equipment to determine necessary maintenance, possess effective oral and written communication skills, and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.   The City is looking for someone who can work effectively with supervisors, co-workers, contractors and the public; and maintain positive front-line public relations.

Work hours would typically be Monday through Friday from 4:00 pm – 10:00 pm, up to 28 hours per week. This position may also involve some weekend assignments.

OPERATIONS COORDINATOR - Part-time
(Parks & Recreation Department)

The City of Miamisburg is accepting applications for the part-time position of Operations Coordinator at the Miamisburg Community Center front desk for the Parks and Recreation Department.  This position provides a variety of skilled tasks to improve, increase or maintain opportunities for the community to Play, Discover and Grow.

Responsibilities include assisting customers at the Miamisburg Community Center front desk via email, phone, and in person, assisting City staff with administrative tasks as assigned, and staffing marketing events, and possessing a warm, welcoming, and professional demeanor at all times. Potential candidates must be flexible to perform a wide range of tasks and work with all demographics and ages of the public.  The position reports directly to the Community Center Operations Manager.  A typical schedule is 15-20 hours per week, not exceeding 28 hours per week, including weekends and evenings, dependent upon event schedules and needs of the Community Center.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Ohio driver’s license, a minimum of one (1) year of previous experience in the same or related field.  Candidate must obtain CPR/First Aid Certification with-in six (6) months of appointment and maintain as a condition of employment.  

The hourly wage range for the position is $9.85 - $15.22, DOQ.
