HUMAN RESOURCES TECHNICIAN

The City of Miamisburg, Ohio, (pop. 20,000) a well-established, progressive city located southwest of Dayton, is seeking applications for Human Resources Technician.  The successful candidate will be required to maintain a high level of confidentiality.  The City is looking for someone who can work effectively with supervisors, co-workers, outside agencies and businesses, as well as the public.     

Position Overview:

This position reports directly to the Director of Human Resources and provides support to the HR Department with the primary functions being administering the payroll function for the City of Miamisburg and back up for the Miami Valley Fire District.  Involves compiling payroll data, maintaining payroll and personnel records, and ensuring compliance with all mandatory reporting requirements. 

This position would also provide support for other Human Resource functions, as needed, which may include but is not limited to, benefit administration, recruitment and selection, record retention and public document requests, Workers Compensation, EEOC, COBRA, and FMLA.  This position is 40 hours per week and intended to be Monday – Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but may include some evenings and weekends dependent on department needs and deadlines.   

Minimum Qualifications:

•    High school diploma or equivalent required but an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
•    Experience in customer service.
•    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
•    Basic computer data entry skills.
•    Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook with additional payroll software experience preferred.
•    Effective communication skills.
•    Working experience in multi-tasking.
•    Proven ability to meet deadlines.
•    Proven ability to maintain confidentiality.  

Additional preferred qualifications:

The best candidate will have at least two years’ experience in payroll and human resources or a related field; have some experience in government payroll or finance, be proficient with use of payroll software, and with the use of office equipment such as printer, copier/scanner, fax machine, phone and calculator.

We are looking for a candidate who has positive and effective communication skills (both written and verbal), customer service and time management skills.  It is imperative this individual be able to multi-task, meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality while maintaining a friendly and positive attitude.  Looking for someone who can work independently while still being an effective team player. This individual must also be meticulous and pay attention to detail while still being able to be personable, work well with others, and see the big picture and how the pieces all fit together. 

Compensation & Benefits

The 2020 hourly wage range is $15.47 – $29.82 DOQ with an excellent benefits package.  The applications can be found on this web page.
