The City of Miamisburg, Ohio (pop. 20,000), a historic suburban community in the south Dayton metropolitan region is accepting applications for the position of Parks & Facilities Superintendent.  Miamisburg is a progressive and growing community that retains its small-town charm with a historic downtown and mixed housing developments offering a high quality of life and services to its residents. 

Position Overview
The City of Miamisburg’s nationally accredited Parks & Recreation Department serves approximately 50,000 residents, including surrounding Miami Township.  We oversee and maintain 20 neighborhood and community parks, a Community Center, Family Aquatic Center, skateboard park, dog park, community recreation programming and events, and one 9-hole golf course that has been part of the community for over 60 years.

The Parks & Facilities Superintendent reports directly to the Parks and Recreation Director and performs a variety of skilled, supervisory and administrative tasks to improve, increase and maintain opportunities for the community to Play, Discover and Grow. This professional position is responsible for planning, developing, monitoring, organizing, evaluating and leading the Parks and Facilities Division of the Parks and Recreation Department. 

The position responsibilities include overseeing Parks and Facilities Division operations including improvement and maintenance of parks, public facilities, and green spaces; development and implementation of capital improvements program; project management; establishing partnerships with community organizations; administering use agreements to community sports associations and other organizations; budget administration; and supervision and development of staff. 

Education & Experience:
•    Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Parks and Recreation, Business Management, Landscape Architecture, Project Management or related field. 
•    A minimum of five years of experience in an administrative role, including supervision of staff, in park and/or facility management or a related field.  
•    Experience in Project Management and Leadership.
•    Certified Parks and Recreation Professional
•    Strong background in both capital and operations budgeting.

A combination of education, experience and training may be applied in accordance with the City of Miamisburg policy.

Additional Qualifications

•    Knowledge of principals and technology of maintaining a comprehensive park system and public buildings.
•    Operational knowledge of current Microsoft Office Suite software and ability to learn and use work tracking software.
•    Strong organizational, interpersonal and conflict management skills. 
•    Effective verbal and written communication skills.
•    Must possess a valid driver’s license.

The chosen candidate will be required to obtain and maintain the following licensures and certifications once hired:
•    Aquatic Facility Operators Certification
•    Ohio Department of Agriculture Pesticide License
•    CPR/First Aid Certification

WATER OPERATOR II, WATER TREATMENT FACILITY
(Public Works Dept.)

The City of Miamisburg, Ohio (pop. 20,000) is accepting applications for the full time position of Water Operator II (Water Treatment Facility) in the Public Works Department.  

This position reports to the Water Treatment Supervisor and provides a variety of routine, complex, skilled and technical work in the operation, maintenance, and repair of the water treatment facilities and actively supports and upholds the City’s stated mission and values.  Additional responsibilities include performing analyses of various water environmental samples for the efficient operation of the treatment facilities. The ideal candidate will have an EPA Class III Water Supply Operator license, aptitude for operations, laboratory and maintenance work with background knowledge in math, general science, and general chemistry.   

The minimum qualifications are:

1.    High School Diploma or Equivalent (G.E.D.); and
2.    Possess and maintain a valid Ohio Driver’s License; * and
3.    Two (2) years of experience in water treatment and/or water distribution system operations and maintenance, or equivalent; and
4.    Possess an Ohio EPA Class II Water Supply Operator license *; and
5.    Must be able to respond quickly to emergencies and fulfill physical demands of the position; and
6.    Must be able and willing to work extended hours and demonstrate a work history of excellent attendance and overtime response.  

*Licensures must be maintained over the course of employment as a condition of employment within this classification.

MECHANIC II
(Public Works Dept.)

The City of Miamisburg is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Mechanic II within the Fleet Maintenance Division of the Public Works Department. Position performs skilled, semi-skilled and administrative work in maintaining vehicles and mechanical equipment for the City.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent; possess a valid Ohio driver’s license and obtain a Class A CDL with tanker endorsement within one (1) year of appointment to the position.  They must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in automotive technology or a closely related field, including the maintenance and repair of automotive equipment. Graduation from an accredited automotive trade school may be substituted for six months experience.  An associate degree in automotive technology from an accredited college may be substituted for two years’ experience. 

The applicant must also be proficient with diagnostic scanners, computer software and in the maintenance and repair of GVW Class 1-8 vehicles.  They must possess or obtain a freon refrigerant certification as required by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) within 6 months of appointment to the position.  All certifications and licensures must be maintained over the course of employment as a condition of employment within this classification.

POLICE OFFICER

(Lateral )

The City of Miamisburg, Ohio (pop. 20,000) is accepting applications for lateral full-time positions.  Applicants must be at least 21 years of age; possess a valid Ohio driver’s license; have no felony record; and possess a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent (associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred).

Lateral applicants (currently a certified peace officer with a minimum of one year of full-time law enforcement employment and not out of service for more than two years) are not required to complete a written test or physical fitness assessment to be considered for employment.  If selected, prior service will be taken into consideration towards starting pay and leave benefits.

The compensation package includes a pay range of $26.23-$34.85/per hour, dependent on qualifications and experience, with excellent benefits.
